Conservatives for Obama? Wrong Way

I have been reading a lot of articles lately about conservatives who are unhappy with the McCain/Palin ticket and the way our country is headed. In light of this, they seen to have shifted support to the Obama/Biden camp, which all in all seems reasonable I suppose. However what staggers me is the lack of move over to the Barr ticket and the Libertarian party.

The original Republican ideals where for less spending and smaller government; a government that was more state oriented and less centralized. This seems like a nice counterpoint to the Democrat ideals of social reform through government acts. However now that the Republican party has evolved into a government expanding, defense based nightmare, I find it terribly odd that people are not switching to a party that is closer to their own.

The Libertarian party's views are by no means that of the Republican party, however when switching to Obama, these conservatives are taking the exact opposite side. I will admit that this is more likely because no one believes that a third party can win the election, or they just don't know about it. But I think that now is one of the best times I have ever seen to start a revolution, and show the rest of the country that the two party system is broken, and neither party has got this down. The answer to fixing this country permanently does not lie in a Republican or Democrat in office. It lies in patriots and true mavericks outside of the main circle who are willing to stand up for something real. Obama may give you hope, but unfortunately, that's about all he's going to give you.

Tennis is a Sport of Gods

I began playing tennis as a child, a little here and there with my father, and then in a summer league once or twice, I can't remember which. More recently though, it has supplemented my cycling and surpassed hockey as sport numero uno again. After tangling with baseball, hockey, lacrosse, and so on, it just comes down to one thing: tennis is a sport of gods.

The is a great satisfaction in the crack of a baseball bat; watching the ball fly out past the outfielders as you slowly run the bases in triumph. Flipping a quick wrist shot from the face-off circle right above the goalie's shoulder sends a feeling of great power running straight from the blade of your stick, through your arms and shoulders, and finally engulfing your mind and soul. But there is nothing better than feeling the fluid motion and raw power as you drive a forehand blazing down the line, past an unsuspecting opponent who's feet and hands are hopelessly a tangle.

I love cycling because it's very personal. You can focus on the power in your legs, feel the air flow in and out of your lungs, and watch the world fly by at twenty-five miles per house. I must say though, that tennis is much more satisfying, on a mental level at least. The tremendous feeling of outsmarting an opponent, or being outsmarted, or better yet the reality that you have triumphed by shear will and strength. There is little else that matters in the world, only that little yellow ball. Down the line, cross court, where to go. Feel the contact rumble through your arm, and by the time it's gone your already onto the next shot.

Fast, powerful, smart, thrilling. It's like a pedal powered roller-coaster.

Best Game Ever for Little Leaguers

Original Video - Improv Everywhere

I just recently saw this clip from Improv Everywhere even though it was actually made about a year and a half ago. I honestly think this is one of the best things I have ever seen on the internet, and close to one of the best things I have ever seen period. Can you imagine being a kid, just playing baseball, and then BAM, all of the sudden your the center of attention and some random group of people turn your little league game into a nation event (sort of)? Everyone's go to see this.

Is it Tired in Here, Or is it Just Me?

Have you ever had a long stretch where you just never seem to catch up on your sleep? Like every night you go to bed later, and later, until it just seems like there is no point anymore? I feel like I'm in one of those terrible spirals right now. I'm going out in a little under an hour, but I'm afraid of staying awake the whole time because I couldn't fall asleep until about 5'oclock in the damn morning. God knows what will happen once classes start up again. Then it will be ugly. I just can't seem to get myself back on track with a normal sleep schedule. Oh well, at least my new wheels come today, so maybe the cycling can put me at ease.

Wake Me Up When September Ends

I've been sitting here for a little while, listening to my old Stroke 9 albums and remembering high school, remembering better times, and it just hit me that it is freaking August already.

The summer is an interesting beast in my opinion. It seems like no one can ever wait until it begins, it never lives up to expectations, is over before you realize it began, and seem to miss it all winter long. Long days that seem to stretch on forever, watching the sunset as the horizon is set ablaze with brilliant colors dazzling in the waves of an endless ocean. It almost seems like a dream. It brings freedom and friendship, love and new beginnings.

So now we have but a single month left to enjoy, and soon the shades of fall will invade with brisk winds and early evenings. The summer sun will finally fade beneath a dark autumn sky. Have we lost, have we gained? New smells in the air; sweet waves of apples and cinnamon blanket the air as the new colors of burnt sienna, fiery orange, and deep sage fill our vision creating grand scenes. At for the moment, it seems okay that summer has come to an end. That blazing sunset seems like a distant memory and as a leaf falls slowly to the ground, all will seem right with the world.
